Ely Heritage Preservation Commission
The Ely Heritage Preservation Commission is made up of citizen volunteers who have a passion for preserving and promoting the culture and heritage of the Ely area. Members of the Commission are appointed by the Ely City Council.
Efforts headed up by the Commission include protecting and enhancing the City’s appeal to residents, visitors, and tourists, and serving as a support and stimulus to business and industry. Another undertaking of the Commission is to safeguard the heritage of the community by preserving sites and structures which reflect elements of the City’s cultural, social, economic, political, visual or architectural history. Additionally, the Commission promotes the continued use of historic sites and structures for the education and general welfare of the people of Ely. The Commission also advocates for fostering civic pride in the beauty and accomplishments of the past.
