For more than 125 years, Stillwater Public Library has served the residents of Stillwater and the St. Croix Valley by providing resources and services that connect the community to the power of knowledge, new ideas, and opportunities for engagement. Through our work, we continue to enrich the city and region, offering a wealth of resources such as the St. Croix Collection, which preserves local history through materials on Stillwater's people, historic buildings, businesses, and much more.

The St. Croix Collection includes stunning photographs and unique items documenting the history of Stillwater, Washington County, and the St. Croix River Valley. The collection is a valuable resource for those researching their ancestors, local architecture, or the area’s history. In addition, our contributions to the Minnesota Digital Library feature detailed biographies of Company B Veterans, German Alien registrations from WWI, City of Stillwater building permits from 1886 to 1946, the Frederick Holcombe photo collection from 1889 to 1936, and the James Sinclair stereopticon slide collection from 1876 to 1890, showcasing early Stillwater businesses, homes, and views of the St. Croix River. These resources, along with many other documents, maps, and images, help preserve the rich history of our community for future generations.
