Soudan Underground Mine State Park

Soudan Underground Mine is a former iron ore mine located on the Vermilion Iron Range in Soudan, Minnesota.  It is part of Lake Vermilion – Soudan Underground Mine State Park.  In 1963 the mine was transferred to the State of Minnesota and it opened as a State Park in 1965. They strive to preserve the history of the mine and the area. They offer tours of the underground mine and they have exhibits dedicated to the history of the area. Their collection consists of maps of the various underground levels and photos of miners and mining life.
