The New Prague Area Historical Society is housed in the Paul Komarek Room of the New Prague Community Library in New Prague, Minnesota. Located a short distance south of the Minnesota River Valley and the Twin Cities, New Prague rests within the rolling hills of a rich agricultural region. Founded in 1856 by Bohemian, German and Irish families, New Prague continues to retain its ethnic identity and traditions. Professional and lay photographers have recorded the daily lives of people and the events of the community as early as 1870. Images provided to the Minnesota Digital Library record the development of Main Street and the active milling and farming industries that shaped the community.
