Minnesota Historical Society

The Minnesota Historical Society, headquartered in St. Paul, Minnesota was established in 1849 to collect, preserve, and tell the story of Minnesota's past. Its extensive collections of printed materials, photographs, manuscripts, government records, maps, artifacts, and audio and video materials document the entire spectrum of Minnesota's history and pre-history. The Minnesota Historical Society's contributions to Minnesota Reflections include Minnesota's original land survey plats, several 19th century atlases and plat books, speeches and other items extolling the state's wealth and prospects, and a contrasting selection of letters and reports that document natural disasters and disaster relief.
