Inver Hills Community College was founded in 1970 to meet the demand for post-secondary education in the southeast metro area of the Twin Cities. Originally Inver Hills State Junior College, it became Inver Hills Community College in 1973. The Inver Hills Community College has contributed issues of The Forum to the Minnesota Digital Library. The Forum was the student newspaper of the college, published from October 1970 to April 2005, and it included news on student life, campus events, and academics. Issues frequently contained profiles of students, faculty, and staff. The Forum also published editorials and news on current events in general. Advertisements appearing in the paper over those years offer an account of the local businesses operating in the area.
