Hennepin History Museum (HHM) brings the history of the diverse people in and around our region to life. The museum preserves and explores local history by helping people understand their world with exhibits, public programs, a magazine, and a public research library. They are dedicated to providing an honest understanding of history to create a more inclusive and equitable future. Located in a 1920s mansion in the Washburn-Fair Oaks Historic District, HHM has been collecting and preserving evidence of our region’s history since its founding in 1938. The extensive archives include tens of thousands of letters, manuscripts, photographs, maps, diaries, business records, and more.
The more than 480 images Hennepin History Museum contributed to the Minnesota Digital Library show the early history and development at St. Anthony Falls, including construction at the power company and scenes of the flour milling industry, which was central to the economic development of Minneapolis. The photographs were taken between 1885 and 1906.
