Conservation Corps Minnesota & Iowa provides hands-on environmental stewardship and service-learning opportunities to youth and young adults while accomplishing conservation, natural resource management, and emergency response work. Conservation Corps Minnesota & Iowa traces its roots to the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), created by President Franklin D. Roosevelt as a federal work relief program to provide natural resource jobs to unemployed young men so they could support their families during the Great Depression. Materials contributed to Minnesota Digital Library include photographs and diaries documenting life in the Corps.
