The Adams Area Historical Society was incorporated with the State of Minnesota as a non-profit organization on September 5, 2017. The main purpose of the Society is to preserve and share the history of the town of Adams and its surrounding area.

In 2018, the Society established a History Center in the First National Bank Building at 322 West Main Street in Adams, Minnesota. The building is on the National Register of Historic Places. The History Center is home to a variety of collections and research materials from the aforementioned area. The Society has shared a selection of home movies with the Minnesota Digital Library.
